British diplomats in Ufa
The British diplomatic delegation met with the leadership of Ufa City Municipal District Administration of Bashkortostan Republic on May 16th. The head of Ufa City Municipal District Administration of Bashkortostan Republic P.R. Kachkaev, the deputy head of Ufa City Municipal District Administration of Bashkortostan Republic A.S. Yusupova, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Ufa Z. Sh. Mardanov, the advisor to the head of Ufa City Municipal District Administration of Bashkortostan Republic A.A. Mahmutov, the head of foreign economic relations department R.Z. Mirsayapov participated in this meeting.
The head of the delegation is Dr. Lorie Bristow– the deputy head of British Embassy in Russia. He was accompanied by the Consul General of Great Britain in Yekaterinburg Ms. Jennifer Lock and senior consultant on trade and investments of British Consulate General in Yekaterinburg Galina Movchan. The delegation arrived in Bashkortostan Republic for a reconnaissance visit. They have also met with Prime-Minister of Government of Bashkortostan Republic Rail Sarbaev and Minister of external economic relations, trade and business of Bashkortostan Republic Boris Kolbin.
The members of the delegation asked the mayor a few questions. They were particularly interested in advantages and disadvantages of Russia entering the World Trade Organization, the preparations of the companies to this event, and the mentality shift of the citizens for the last ten years. Mr.Kachkaev told that all large-scale companies have already been certified in accordance with the WTO requirements. As for the mentality shift of the citizens, the mayor described the mid nineties, when the citizens complained of the bad work of the community services, low salary and high criminal situation. And today the main problems are housing construction and traffic congestions on Ufa roads.
At the end of the meeting the head of Ufa Municipality presented the guests the pennon with Ufa coat of arms and a photo-album of Ufa, and the guests presented a photo-album of London.
